Halsey “Badlands” Album Review

After having tweets about Halsey flood my timeline, I took the liberty of purchasing her new album Badlands to decide how it was for myself. I was hoping that I’d be just as amazed and in awe as the rest of my peers but deep down had a feeling that this wouldn’t be true. Boy, was I correct.

Each song started out as though it would become something unique and new, but the chorus in each song sounded exactly the same as the last. They had the same beat and pattern. It was like opening a beautifully wrapped present from your grandmother only to find a two-dollar, white pair of socks inside.

My next issue with Badlands is that its genre is listed as alternative while it follows the guidelines of being a pop album. There isn’t much originality to anything Halsey does in this album. I cannot explain to you how disappointed I was.

My final issue with Halsey is that she comes off as a spoiled daddy’s girl that’s trying to rebel by writing music that’s anything but what a parent wants to hear. She doesn’t use music to express herself or her feelings or rant about important issues but rather to anger the older generations.

Overall, I’m disappointed and will be deleting the album as soon as possible.
