Plans for Northwood’s New Road

Starting this school year, Northwood has begun the construction of a new road along with developing plans to widen the current main road. Although plans are not yet finalized, it has been confirmed that there will be one new entrance that is already being cleared. There is another possibility of adding three lanes where the current main road is located. These plans have been in the works for a while now, and are currently set to be completed sometime following this year’s graduation, opening officially in the summer. A possible downside to the new entrance is that students and staff may end up losing some parking spaces in the current gravel lot. Once construction for the new road is completed, the current entrance will be closed so it can be expanded. Plans for the main road include two ways in and one way out, allowing people to access the campus without waiting in a line. Officials hope to include a roundabout to ease traffic as students leave the main lot. This is the current timetable the Chatham County School district has set for when the new road will open.
