Valentine’s Day DIY

Whether you’re in a relationship or not, Valentine’s Day can always be a fun time. There are so many easy and cheap options for treats and gifts to give to friends, family, significant others and even yourself! I will be giving you several DIY options to create the perfect Valentine’s Day atmosphere. These can all be taken in a different direction of your choosing if you want to make them more unique. All of the crafts are affordable and easy to make or find.

DIY Love Sign (Decoration)

You will need: a plank of wood (any shape you choose), painter’s tape, paint (pink or red theme), stencil (optional)

Directions:

  1. Paint wood a light base color of your choice.
  2. When the paint is dry, lay painter’s tape down in several straight strips.
  3. Paint the wood with a darker color and then remove the tape.
  4. This is where you can decide to either use a stencil or hand paint the word “love”.
  5. Let everything dry and then hang it up and enjoy!

DIY Bath Bombs (Gift idea)

You will need: baking soda, epsom salts, jojoba oil, red food coloring, citric acid, witch hazel, Love Potion essential oil, mesh strainer, spray bottle, heart shaped mold, plastic gloves

Directions:

  1. Place the strainer over a large bowl and pour ¼ cup of epsom salts, 1 cup of baking soda and ½ cup of citric acid in. Sift and then stir to remove lumps.
  2. Add ½ tablespoon of jojoba oil, 1-2 drops of food coloring and 10 drops of Love Potion essential oil.
  3. With gloves on, mix the essential oils and food coloring into the dry ingredients.
  4. Once thoroughly mixed, spray witch hazel into the mixture until it sticks together when squeezed (should be about 8-10 sprays).
  5. Pack the mixture into the molds as tightly as possible. Let it dry ideally overnight (or 8-10 hours).
  6. For storage, keep them in Ziploc bags in a cool, moisture free environment.

Cheap gifts you can buy!

  1. The person’s favorite candy – This is such a simple idea, but always appreciated! Wrap a couple of candy bars together with a nice ribbon and you have the perfect present.
  2. Gift cards to their favorite stores and/or restaurants – This is an easy way to make anyone happy. Who doesn’t want free money to spend at their favorite places?
  3. Flowers – Whether it’s a dozen roses or a single carnation, it’s a sweet gesture to give someone a flower.
  4. Cute socks – There are millions of options online or in stores for unique socks…anywhere from socks with puppies on them, to food, to TV shows.
  5. A cute card that you can add your own touch to – Walmart sells giant cards for only $3!

Rather than something physical, you can go do something fun! Some ideas are…

  1. Go to the movies – Although the movies can end up costing a lot, you can also set up a cute space in your house and watch a movie on Netflix and order some pizza!
  2. Go out for a meal – Go out to eat in any type of restaurant; whether it’s a five-star restaurant or McDonald’s, it’s the thought that counts.
  3. Have a picnic – If it’s a nice day, you could have a picnic outside with all your favorite food. If it’s on the chillier side, indoor picnics are always a cute idea!
  4. Mini road trip – Pick an activity like going for a hike a little far away. Then make a road trip playlist and have a fun time on the road and then doing your fun activity.
