How to Get a Date for Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s day is just around the corner and you’ve made it a personal goal to find yourself a date to avoid spending another day full of love and romance on the couch eating ice cream. I’m going to get real with you here for a second: Valentine’s day really isn’t that big of a deal. If you’re out looking for love “just because it’s Valentine’s day,” you’re doing it wrong. All this being said you are reading this for a reason and I am here to provide you with some sage advice.

Dating Apps

There are loads upon loads of dating apps out there and that’s where we’ll look first. Whether you’re looking for a one-time, Valentine’s-Day-focused get-together or a lasting companion in life, dating apps can help you find that special someone.

Try a Group Date

There’s no reason to limit your Valentine’s Day fun to a one-on-one date. Go out with a group of friends or pair up with another couple for a nice double date. You can find lots of fun, reasonably priced group outings with the help of apps like Groupon, open table, or living social.

Talk to a Stranger

Conversation is something that is lost on all of us these days. Remember what it was like to actually interact with another human? Before the days of swiping and social media? Most of us are out of practice, so take the time to do this — especially if it’s out of your comfort zone. I promise it will help your dating game if it doesn’t straight-up yield you a date.

Be Yourself

Ace your first date to get you a second date — that’ll make your Valentine’s Day even more remarkable. Be nice to the waiter and or waitress. Your date is most likely judging you on how you treat others, and this is the easiest way to evaluate. Dress in what you feel best in something you walk into a room feeling truly confident in. Leave the resume at home. It’s great that you love your job, but you can leave the career-chatter at that. Talk about things that you love to do outside of the office or school to prevent making this feel less like a romantic date and more like an interview.

Adopt a Pet

If all else fails and human interaction just isn’t doing it for you, consider adopting a furry friend to watch Netflix and eat your ice cream with! Who needs humans where there are pets to love?

Many of the adoption apps available today pull from the same pet adoption databases, so the only thing you’ll see that’s different between the various apps is the user interface design. That said, many of the top adoption apps are well regarded.

If you’re thinking about adopting a pet this Valentine’s Day, consider using the following apps!
