Chatham County Commemorates its 250th Birthday Through Founding Day Celebration

While the year 2020 was challenging for Chatham County, 2021 is set to be a year of hope, celebration and inspiration as the Chatham community celebrates its 250th birthday. In order to make the most of this special occasion, Chatham County will host several events throughout the course of the year that people of all ages and backgrounds will be able to take part in and enjoy.

Art Abloom: Three Northwood Students Receive Awards for the 2021 Scholastic Art Contest

On Jan. 22, 2021, the Scholastic Art Awards were released for this year’s annual art competition, with three Northwood students–Ella Sullivan, Jade Schneider and Lily Jordan–receiving awards. The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are presented by the Alliance for Young Artists, a non-profit organization that offers students an opportunity to showcase their best literary and artistic work to the public and win scholarships. Each year, hundreds of students across the U.S. submit entries in 29 different categories–from poetry to photography–hoping to share their work with the world.

We’re Not Removed Enough

Let’s be honest. This pandemic has been the greatest thing to happen to our society. We have the opportunity to find more ways to be extremely grateful for our miraculous life, we can see our magnificent world through more open eyes, we can learn vigorously through a new way of schooling and blah blah blah…enough with the positivity. Okay but seriously, there has been something of importance that came out of it: we aren’t having to go out and socialize. Spending days constantly on your guard with people in your little bubble can begin to wear on you. And I mean literally. People walk around dripping with the said and unsaid words of others.
