What’s up with the Traffic Circle?

Work has started on the Pittsboro traffic circle. A deal was reached back in the October of 2020 with Raleigh-based contractor Carolina Sunrock LLC to mill and resurface about 250 feet of asphalt around the traffic circle. This means that they will remove the top layer of asphalt and replace it with a newer, smoother coat. The deal was valued at 2.48 million dollars. The town of Pittsboro is expected to finish construction in October of this year, weather permitting.

Northwood Girl’s Basketball Team Wins Conference Championship Second Year In A Row

On Monday, Jan. 25, the Northwood Girl’s Basketball Team played against Chapel Hill High School at Northwood. Due to COVID guidelines, the crowd was not as big as it has been in past years. Only parents were allowed to attend and watch the game. Scores for both teams were low during the first quarter but went up at the beginning of the second quarter. Chapel Hill scored five points going into halftime. Throughout the game, Tekeyah Bland, a Northwood senior, scored 15 points and 12 rebounds. Teammate McKenna Snively, a Northwood junior scored 14 points. Throughout the second half of the game, Northwood held the lead and ended up winning the game 48-36. This win made the NHS Girl’s Basketball Team conference champions for the second year in a row.

Everything You Need to Know about Seaforth, Chatham County’s New High School

Seaforth High School is set to become Chatham County’s fourth public high school currently in operation. The addition is the first since the creation of Northwood High School in 1970. The school is set to be completed on April 6, 2021, opening its doors to students at the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year. According to Chatham County Schools (CCS), school construction is 98% as of Jan. 27. Construction has been ongoing for the past two years amounting to a project that costs $74.8 million.
