Ways Students Can Help This Holiday Season

Northwood High School’s clubs have put together many fundraisers that stretch from Nov. through the month of December. It is important to give back to those in need, especially since the coronavirus pandemic has affected many in our country and local community. Consider donating or  participating in one or more of these efforts to spread the joy this holiday season.

Have an extra coat at home that doesn’t fit anymore? Donate your gently used or new items to the Northwood Student Council Coat Drive.  The collection started on Nov. 30 and will end Dec. 15. The collection box is on the Northwood campus near the front office.

Northwood’s Student Council is also collecting virtual thank you notes to send to teachers. If you would like to participate, fill out this form. Attach your name, or keep your message anonymous. The form will close Friday, Dec. 10.

The Northwood Sophomore Student Council is collecting stocking stuffers for seniors at the Laurels of Chatham, a local nursing home. You can donate items such as jigsaw puzzles, coloring books and word searches to help keep the residents entertained during quarantine. Bring your items to the designated drop boxes around Pittsboro, or to Northwood High School from now through Dec. 18.

Northwood’s Future Farmers of America (FFA) are hosting a Christmas Toy Drive. Starting on Nov. 23, you can bring unwrapped new toys to a toy drive box at the Pittsboro Feed Store on 1103 East Street in Pittsboro through Dec. 11.

Even small donations can help create a happier holiday season for many families in the area!
